Lydon — A Connacht Name

Lydon comes from Ó Loideáin, a name whose root has not been confidently explained despite genuine attempts to trace it. The family were established across Galway and Mayo, in Connacht ground that carried several names now told with an honest gap where a tidy etymology would otherwise sit.
