Gaelic Origin · Root meaning uncertain
Fahy comes from Ó Fathaigh, a name whose root has been guessed at more than settled despite genuine scholarly effort. The family were established around south Galway and north Clare, close by the Shannon, in a history that is certain even in the places where its exact meaning still isn't.
An honest gap is better than an invented one — this is a name whose history is certain even where its exact meaning isn't.
